The dangers of STATIC DISCHARGE

We would like to share this information from the National Safety Council & The Petroleum Equipment Institute. The picture you see below is an actual photo of static discharge proving what static electricity could do and how it could  change your life forever. Static discharge has resulted in numerous cases of cars erupting inflames.  Out of 150 cases  studied, research revealed that almost all of these situations involved people getting back into their vehicles while the gas nozzle was still pumping gas.  When they were finished, they went back to remove the nozzle from the vehicle, and the fire started as a result of the static discharge- Even though most of the people were wearing rubber-soled shoes,  the gas vapors reacting with the static discharge caused the fires.!

The bottom line is this: Never get back into your vehicle while filling it with gas. If you absolutely have to get in your vehicle, make sure that when you get out and close your door you touch the metal of the vehicle before. you touch the nozzle. This way, the static from your body will be discharged before you remove the nozzle. Also, the research revealed that many fires started as a result of individuals using cell phones. Remember that warning: You should never use a cell phone when pumping gas.
